A central theme in the present ecumenical discussion of the Reformation is the relation between the Reformation and the rise of whatever one thinks constitutes “modernity.” What connection is there and does any such connection show the positive character of the Reformation or simply identify the Reformation with an alleged modern slide into relativism, individualism, etc.?
